I’m Alex Walcott.

I am accepting new clients for talk therapy, Occupational Therapy for ages 3+, families, and adults online in Arizona and in office in Northwest Tucson.

I’m a pediatric occupational therapist and Licensed Associate Counselor with a specialty in neurodivergent, gifted and disabled learners in Arizona. For the past 5 years, I’ve been living in Vancouver, Canada where I also practiced as a clinical counsellor. I’m thrilled to be back in Tucson providing counseling and OT services to the community!
Whether your child struggles with a disability or medical condition, ADHD, ASD, giftedness or other special needs, your family’s life may feel more difficult than most. This can leave you feeling alone. People may not understand your struggles or unique needs.
Your child may feel overwhelmed by sensory experiences, struggle with social interactions, face challenges at school, and encounter other difficulties that can leave you frustrated and exhausted. Sometimes, even simple daily routines can be a struggle.
You love your child fiercely, but navigating their unique needs can feel impossible. You may feel suffocated by worry or overthinking. Your relationship with your spouse or other children may feel strained, which can easily evoke feelings of guilt. It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed and wonder if you are doing the best for your neurodivergent child.
Over the years, I’ve met hundreds of kids and families who have helped me develop unique and creative strategies to support your child’s emotional, sensory, and developmental needs.
Every child is different, and what works for one may not work for another. I take a tailored approach, meeting your child where they are and helping you navigate their specific needs and strengths.
I offer a skilled, compassionate and non-judgmental space to work with you and your child. I’ll help them overcome challenges, celebrate their abilities, and strengthen family bonds so each member feels more understood and supported.

I graduated from Western Michigan University with my master’s in occupational therapy in 2014. I am a fully licensed occupational therapist in the state of Arizona and am currently accepting new clients!
While living in Vancouver, British Columbia, I completed my Master of Counselling Psychology with Adler University.
I’m currently transferring my credentials to Arizona to become a Licensed Associate Counselor and look forward to expanding my professional scope of practice under Olive Branch’s mentorship!

Occupational Therapy in

OT can help children who struggle with things like:
- Big emotions, meltdowns, shutdowns, or emotional overwhelm
- Transitions, routines, and changes in plans
- Sensory sensitivities (noise, clothing, food textures, movement, touch)
- Daily self-care skills like dressing, bathing, brushing teeth, or eating
- Attention, body awareness, and impulse control
Through play-based, relationship-centered work, OTs help kids:
- Learn how their body gives them cues (hungry, tired, overwhelmed)
- Develop regulation tools that feel safe and doable
- Build independence with daily routines at their own pace
- Feel more confident and less “in trouble” for how their nervous system works
OT isn’t just for kids — adults often seek OT for:
- Burnout, chronic overwhelm, or executive functioning challenges
- Difficulty with routines, self-care, or daily organization
- Sensory overload at work, home, or in public spaces
- Emotional regulation, stress tolerance, and energy management
OT for adults focuses on:
- Creating realistic routines (not Pinterest-perfect ones)
- Supporting sensory needs in daily life
- Making self-care accessible instead of exhausting
- Adapting environments and expectations — not forcing compliance
OT also works with families, not just individuals. This may include:
- Helping caregivers understand sensory and emotional needs
- Creating routines that reduce power struggles
- Supporting mealtimes, sleep, transitions, and self-care tasks
- Offering practical tools that work at home — not just in sessions
The goal is less stress, more connection, and fewer daily battles.
