Seeking an ADHD or Autism Diagnosis

Although your therapist can diagnose most disorders in the DSM-5 (e.g. Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Trauma-Related disorders, etc.), we can only screen for Autism and ADHD and make recommendations to more specialized providers to seek the official diagnosis.

We are trained in recognizing and conceptualizing ADHD and Autism and support clients who fall under these areas. Despite our training, due to these disorders being neurodevelopmental (neurocognitive) conditions, evaluation requires medical or neuropsychological assessment tools that fall outside of the scope of Masters Level Therapists in Arizona.

A formal diagnostic evaluation usually includes things like developmental history, cognitive testing, standardized diagnostic instruments, and sometimes medical screening to rule out other neurological or developmental conditions. Because of that level of assessment, diagnoses to qualify for school support such as an IEP or services are typically made by professionals who are trained and licensed to conduct comprehensive evaluations.

Please feel free to use our resource list below for evaluation and other referral recommendations.
